Style Muse
Lana Del Rey

Friday, April 27, 2012

Both lauded and lambasted for her Video Games single debut, Lana Del Rey started out as girl-next-door with cropped tees, heart sunnies and denim shorts. As she launched her album, Born to Die, with her dark contralto voice and grown up vintage sophistication, her persona has been referred to as gangsta Nancy Sinatra.

This 2012’s it-girl has stirred a love-hate relationship between fashion designers, music enthusiasts, and hipsters alike (they even created a hate-blog titled Llama Del Rey, aw poor girl!).
Love her? Of course, we sustain our firm position on her supporters’ side – we even play her songs in the shop everyday.
Hate her? Oh come on, you’re just jealous because in Autumn/Winter 2012 fashion week Lana proved who’s boss: Mulberry even dedicated a namesake bag, the "Del Rey" in same season – which we hope to carry in the shop very soon.

In her closet: A vibrant variation from Versace, Prabal Gurung, Carven, to even ASOS
Iconic look: Naughty girl next door: leather jacket as armour to vintage frocks
Key accessory: The ever-notorious bee-stung pout and statement bling
Steal Lana's quirky retro style with unusual color combinations, like the By Malene Birger Bartolomea blouse, and Marni's plastic fantastic flower necklace
Tone down the outfit with By Malene Birger Cenise Lace Skirt, only to amp up your game again with the shocking mandarin red Christian Louboutin Piou Piou pumps.

Lady Sovereign

We go pretty bold and majestic on the lace trend this season. Drawing inspiration from the royal wedding dress, vintage lingerie, to traditional needlework, there are endless possibilities to embrace lace into a modern wardrobe.
Whether it’s head to toe ensemble seen at Dolce and Gabbana(left) or sweet little see-throughs at Valentino(right), this trend offers an elegant fix for all occasions.
We instantly fell in love with this Valentino black tunic dress – yes it’s the exact runway piece! A hint of folklore romance is shown in the oblong silhouette and scallop trims along the hem.
Dolce and Gabbana jacquard shift dress with traditional floral needlework is brought to a whole new level of sophistication with decadent crystal buttons on the front pockets and back opening.
For formal dress codes, we pick this Mad Men-approved Dolce and Gabbana sheath dress
A truly classic keeper! Keep the hair in a neat up do to highlight the intricacy of the cream lace dress. Also available in black.
Valentino knit cardigan in floral lace pattern exudes an effortless flashback of classic femininity.
Dolce and Gabbana's sheer separates (above: lace shirt and lower: lace panel t-shirt) are perfect for that flirty peekaboo effect.
We say lace layering is the quick fix to looking chic,
or do you dare to bare it all?

Serpent Spell

Not only Adam and Eve, designers too have all fallen prey for the lust-worthy charm of exotic snakeskin textures in their collections (on picture above: Lanvin S/S 2012) Whether it’s genuine or printed, this trend exudes glamour in an ultra prestigious scale: Python leather is stealing all the hype for shoes and bags this season.
Light up any party with a Zagliani metallic snakeskin clutch. The soft pleat design further enhances the fancy texture, channeling the python trend with an ultra glam edge.
Magenta statement piece for the girl about town.
The fashion forward structure and detachable shoulder strap makes this Zagliani python bag our top snakeskin pick for this season.
Luxury never goes off-duty.
Grace every step in style for Lanvin offered a high end option to our trusty flat sandals, perfect for weekends or even a trip to the beach. We love the impeccable material mix of exotic skin and brass studs.

Avoid spilling drinks or liquids on the leather as python skin being a natural leather, absorbs everything. Don’t leave your python goods in the sun for a long time, as the leather can get dried out or lose its color.  Other than that, if properly cared for, genuine python goods will increase in beauty and elegance over time.

Zoccai
A Crystal Affair

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

If the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, then how does one get to us girls’? Yes baby, it’s the bling!
On a cool Wednesday of February 22nd 2012, Laprendo paid tribute to fine jewellery by hosting an intimate showcase of carefully curated collection from Zoccai.
Founded in 1839 as a small goldsmith’s workshop in Venice, the brand’s reputation is a solid epitome of sophisticated Italian quality, style, and tradition. The Zoccai Style impeccably interprets designs with gold and precious stones in a cornucopia of colors.
Embedded along a vibrant array of cupcakes and antique bell jars, these brilliant pieces quintessentially took center stage as wearable art.
(Overheard at the party: "Oh my God, am I at a candy shop?)
Brilliant hues of amethyst, peridot, London topaz, citrine, and lapis lazuli were such an exquisite visual delight! They look almost edible, don't they?
The main highlight of the showcase was Zoccai’s latest collection of lush pendants, necklaces, and bracelets of laser cut mother of pearl set in gold round frames. This pinpoints a seamless harmony of advanced technology and traditional workmanship in the brand’s current design direction.
The CEO himself, Gino Zoccai made the anticipated visit to our Little Red Dot as a token of appreciation for loyal customers and avid fans of the brand. He even brought his personal collection to the exhibition: diamond encrusted jewellery set embellished in white gold and antique ceramic holy figures. The bracelet was our personal favourite. We mean, seriously – imagine decking this out to a gala dinner, slicked back updo, and a slinky silk Haider Ackermann dress? Molto bella!

The reception was a huge success with a massive turn out. We certainly wish you were here with us for this showcase (see what you’ve missed!), but fret not as we will host even more exciting events this year. So keep an eye on this space and look forward to see you next time.
