Style Muse
Rooney Mara

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

The unsung heroine finally stole global movie and fashion critiques' hearts at her role on The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Mara took the transformation into her character Lisbeth Salander very seriously; as a rebellious computer hacker, she had her head shaved, eyebrows bleached and her body pierced. Wow, now that’s pure dedication!

Instantly crowned as one of the A-listers after the movie became a blockbuster hit, fashion designers are starting to battle to dress her for red carpet events. Rooney Mara opts for structured silhouettes, cutout surprises, constantly sustaining a polished post-goth je ne sais quoi about her look.
With a style this strong and iconic, you can be sure she will not be just a mere one hit wonder in both movie and fashion industry.
In her closet: Givenchy, Balenciaga, Rodarte
Iconic look: Clean geometric cut outs, power jackets
Key accessory: Edgy hairstyle makes a grand entrance
There is no need to go all the way with the body modifications, get inspired by Mara's red carpet looks instead like the slick Roksanda Ilincic cut out jumpsuit she wore at The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo movie premiere in Stockholm.
Counter a polished YSL scarf top with a hint of dark edge: All About Romance Cut Out Leather Jacket, Gucci Denim Slim Pants and Hematite Madison Cuff from Philippe Audibert (available soon at LaPrendo Fullerton). Finally, add an elegant lift to this look with YSL Tri Colour Tribute Sandals.

Alexander McQueen

Friday, May 11, 2012

Join our ode to the iconic Knuckle Duster Skull Clutch and the Skull Box Clutch
by the late British designer and fashion industry's l'enfant terrible: Alexander McQueen.
Frequently spotted adorning top looks on most red carpet's best dressed list, the Knuckle Duster and Skull Box clutches earned loyal fans
including celebrities (left to right): Emma Stone,Eva Green, and Florence Welch.

These arm candies are the most bewitching addition for your wardrobe to toughen up any outfit with a dash of gothic romance. McQueen's sinister penchant for skulls and knuckle dusters is glamourized to its finest, thus making these bags
the must-have wearable works of art.
Each clutch stands as a statement-making accessory on it's own; it even tells a story like any Alexander McQueen collection. This time it is a tale of the seas, featuring aquatic-inspired textures such as luxe stingray, lacquered python, laser cut suede mimicking fish scales, barnacle printed jacquard, to skulls with pearl and crystal detailing.
