From designing pre-collections under Marc
Jacobs for Louis Vuitton, Sonia Rykiel creative director Julie de Libran has
now produced her first Pre-Spring collection for the Parisian fashion house.
Julie de Libran went out with a bang with
this one, taking the Queen of Knits back to the glory days of Manhattan’s
Studio 54. Fittingly, the Sonia Rykiel Pre-Spring 2016 collection was presented
at Ladurée Soho on West Broadway. From the daytime hustle and bustle to the
party at the nightclub, her collection of American classics reigned decadently.

For Sonia Rykiel, stripes are always right
and have been signature staples in their repertoire for many years now. This
Pre-Spring 2016, the Sonia Rykiel stripes will make you look twice!
The graphic effect is a hot trend this
Spring and de Libran has used this to her advantage. Kaleidoscopic parrot
prints, rainbow stripes, and multi-coloured sequins are hot highlights here.
The maximalism does not stop there. Spanish flounces and thick panels of colour
give the collection an extra bounce, making the overall offering an absolute
textural delight. The bags too, have their fair share of this treatment, laden
with intricate leather weaves and zesty colours.
A little bit of glamour and a little bit of
boho-chic grunge, de Libran is slowly defining her version of the Sonia Rykiel woman of today. A master layering artist, she dresses the girl who is out to
have a good time – a really good time. And with daywear proving to be her
strongest suit, the light of day is where you will find her at her best.
When you wear a Sonia Rykiel, know that
there is an inner Parisian woman inside of you. Deep down, this woman shows
immense confidence, her unabashed display of fashion in full glory on the
